Down the valley, lush and green
The jewel of water rippling by
Cascading, bubbling refracting gleams
Uttering a softened Celtic sigh.
By the towns from Mythyr down
A swathe cut through the beds of rock
The Taff, a symbol of welsh renown
The river which has ran amok.
Carrying silt and coal from mines
A reflection of past in its bed
Glittering mineral dust refined
Which the earth had to shed.
The miners now, their picks downed.
Memories flow, the past drowned.
