Close your eyes on your stroll,
Take a breath, deep and deeper still,
Let the air fill those lungs and exhale.
Let your mind open and listen,
No longer vision blocking the sounds
Images around disappear
And noise comes into bright focus.
The creak of trees, swish of branches
Swaying in the breeze
lightly touching your face.
Chirp of chaffinches, the caw of crows
Melancholy in echoing cacophony,
Underlying the orchestra as it unfolds.
Water splashes, rushes, and tinkles along
Streaming harmoniously from riverbank,
Melding itself into the complex melody.
The fish percussion gulp for insects –
And damselflies buzz in adagio
Lazily moving up and down the scales.
Until the crescendo when the heavens open,
Raindrops muting all other sounds,
The symphony draws to a close.
