Fountain Pen

Dipped into the dark well,
Drinking deep, gulping black.
Sating its thirst in inky pools,
Filling its belly.
Readying itself to be drawn across
Brass nib skating over vellum
Leaving definition in defined tracks,
Shapes, squiggles, surreptitiously soldered,
Cartography catered and cauterized.
Gouged the thick paper,
Leaving its mark, then marking its leave.
Put back to bed with a lid clicked.
