Disease ripped through his body, the arteries ached, muscles spasmed tremoring against the skin. Mindlessly undulating and rippling under the fine veneer of pink flesh, it kept coursing through in waves faster and faster with each quickening heartbeat. Blood weeping from every orifice, covered him in streaks of red mingled with the stench of shit and bile. As the last wave crashed, his bloodied eyes closed, and he was gone. The four of them looked on with clinical dispassion, noting it all on their tablets turning and walking away from the viewing room.
“Again, a failure. Send Jones to pick up another homeless subject. I think we maybe getting closer, did you see his muscles moving? There was some change happening.”
The other three scientists nodded and grunted.
“Sir, I think just a slight modification to the serum and I’m sure we will have it this time. Immortality will be achievable just a bit more of tweak to the cancer cells”.
The room was scrubbed top to bottom, the offending human “garbage” burned with the mattress covered in effluence. All prepared and sanitized, bleached till there was no recognition of its housing past misdeeds. Another unconscious subject was restrained upon hospital bed, drips filled with a black liquid gulping poison into vein as they watched on from behind the glass.
“We looked again at the certain DNA markers of the cancer cells and how they mutate. The rats so far have proven to still be alive during transition”
The subject’s eyes flitted open and groggily started to fight against the restraints, panic settling in the body arched, fought against the medical fetters as more ink black death entered his body infecting him whole. The liquid fire burning through vein, subsuming his mind, covering him in a shroud of lava under his skin as the cancer ate away. Devouring body and soul. The scientists looked on mesmerized, as the body caved in on itself leaving a bubbling bloodied black mass slipping off the bed. Oozing quickly toward the window. Creating pressure. Hammering. Breaking. Devouring.
